lari bees

Story of Christian Ritter “LARI”

Laribees was created in 2006 with the intention of living from my passion at 100%. It is in Madagascar that I decided to put my smoker with 4 hives in the East of Mada for a test on the Letchi. After the harvest, I was surprised by the more than positive analyses that allow us today to position ourselves internationally.

However Madagascar remains very complex, with its distances to travel, language and traditions and customs ingrained in the villagers. The adventure is thus launched gently with humility and benevolence which are the very foundation of this atypical course.

Today we have 3000 beehives, distributed in five regions throughout the island, which allow us to help 65 families.
Laribees is in constant contact with these beekeepers and friends in order to help them move forward serenely while respecting the environment.
Our philosophy remains human scale as our production and we do not intend to cross this barrier by respect of this beautiful chain. Since 2014 the Lari honey has crossed the Indian Ocean for the pleasure of great palace internationally and this is only the beginning I think of a beautiful story.

Why choose LARI’s honey?
All Lari honeys are Raw, Organic and Monofloral. These three criteria make it an exceptional honey in the rankings of high quality honeys. Very appreciated at the culinary level, its taste is constant and gives confidence to its customers through these certificates. Laribees’ beekeepers are craftsmen who advocate a production in the respect of the sustainable product. We do not practice mass production and we refuse the craze for certification at all costs. We only position ourselves at the obligation imposed by the country where we deliver our products in order to preserve a reasonable price.

Comparison legislative Artisanal VS Industrial
It is important to know that a bee is considered by international laws as an animal. Therefore, the products and by-products of the bee are subject to the sanitary protocol of the country under the responsibility of the approved veterinarian, from its production to the export in the same way as a meat. Hygiene and traceability rigorously follow the product from the hive to the consumer; This represents an additional & administrative effort in comparison to industrial honey which is pasteurized. Unlike industrial honey, LARI’s honey does not go through the pasteurization or filtration phase, which destroys 90% of its nutritional properties.

MNF = MONOFLORAL
MNF = MONOFLORAL and an international appellation allowing to know on which flower the bee to work. This appellation is authorized only from 70% on a specific flower including pollens ”companion”.
The difficulty for this type of honey is to have an area of at least 100Km2. At Laribees, we place stickers on our products (in multiples of 10 Exp: 70+ – 80+- 90+ etc..) after approval from the laboratory after each season / harvest. We have no medical training. Each plant/tree that the bees polonize has beneficial properties and with a minimum of MNF +70% LARI honeys are part of the so-called “super food” products.
