VIZAVI

Who are we ?

Founded by Pascale Siew in 1993, Éditions Vizavi seeks to showcase the rich natural, historical, cultural and linguistic heritage of multicultural Mauritius. Focusing primarily on Mauritius, Vizavi also provides insights into the other islands of the Indian Ocean.

Mauritian culture is at the heart of Vizavi’s Young Readers List, which includes the popular Adventures of Tikulu series. These books recount the various escapades of the dreadlocked young hero and his friends as they travel around Mauritius and the other islands of the region.

For over twenty years, the publishing house has run a programme of engagement activities with schools and community organisations, that seeks to promote reading and a love of books. Vizavi is particularly conscious of the problem of illiteracy and regularly supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Mauritius notebooks

A unique collection of Mauritius-themed notebooks, sepia-toned for nostalgia or vibrantly tropical for a more up-to-date feel. The Mauritian artist, Henry Koombes, has created four new brightly-coloured cover-designs for Vizavi’s Mauritius Notebooks, each of which presents a different scene from a happy, tropical world. These notebooks will make you want to write, scribble and draw again.

Illustrated travel books

Éditions Vizavi’s art and photography books take you on journeys of discovery into the unique cultures of Mauritius and the other Mascarene islands.

Mauritian history collection

Many titles in Vizavi’s list explore the history of Mauritius, from the colonial period to independence in 1968. Others examine the island’s literary history, including articles by the poet and thinker, Malcolm de Chazal.
